Al Hoffman will retire this summer as The Boeing Company’s Site Manager, Edwards AFB and the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center. His responsibility included the integration of Company programs and projects into various installations and organizations and serves as The Boeing Company focal to U.S. Air Force, NASA and other U.S. Government leadership. His background includes avionics maintenance; aircraft and spacecraft manufacturing, testing, and operations; program management, business development; and government relations.

During his 39-year career with Boeing, Al has been part of the B-1B Bomber production and flight test programs; Space Shuttle Main Engine testing at Rocketdyne; Space Shuttle Program assembly, integration and test in Palmdale, Washington, DC Operations and several proprietary programs.

A native of southern New Jersey, Al has lived in the Antelope Valley for over 39 years, residing in Quartz Hill. He is involved in several community organizations. He is a Past President of the Antelope Valley Board of Trade (AVBOT), has served on AVBOT’s Board of Directors and co- chaired the Board of Trade’s Aerospace, Defense Industry, & Base Support Committee (AEROCOMM); was on the Board of Directors for the California Space Authority (CSA). A founding member of the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles County Air Show, Al served as the 2015-2016 President, was Vice President for 2018-2020 and the 2021 President. He is a Past President for the Edwards AFB Civilian-Military Support Group, having served as President from 2016-2019 and continues to serve as a Director.

He is also a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics (AIAA), Air Force Association (AFA), US Naval Institute (USNI), a life-time member of the Flight Test Historical Foundation and is involved with several other industry and community organizations. He completed the National Security Forum at the Air War College, Maxwell AFB, AL in 2006.

He has received numerous commendations and awards, including NASA’s Leadership Award. Al is a U.S. Navy veteran. He majored in U.S. History at Miami University (Ohio). He enjoys music, travel and his partner Jose and Weimaraner Chase.
