Jeff Trang is the CEO of the National Test Pilot School in Mojave, California. Jeff joined NTPS in May 2023, after retiring from Airbus Helicopters as Chief Test Pilot and VP of Engineering.

Jeff received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Rose in 1983, also earning his Army commission as a distinguished military graduate. Upon earning his wings at Fort Rucker, he flew operational tours in Germany, Texas, and Operation Desert Shield. He was then selected to attend the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, after which he flew test tours at Edwards AFB and Fort Eustis, VA. Jeff retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2004 and was awarded the Army Master Aviator Badge and Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf.

Upon military retirement, Jeff joined the FAA as a test pilot where he participated in international flight tests, developed new helicopter certification standards, and supported accident investigations. He holds FAA designations as an Airline Transport Pilot, Certified Flight Instructor, and Designated Engineering Representative, having logged more than 6,000 hours in 65 different aircraft. In 2021, Jeff was elected a Fellow in the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.

His wife Dianna is a graduate of the University of Colorado and Texas A&M, after which she
taught German, English, Composition, and Rhetoric. She retired in 2003 following a 35-year
teaching career. She enjoys playing piano and guitar, gardening, and hiking.

Jeff and Dianna have two children and one grandchild. They reside in Lancaster.
