Volunteers Complete Base Family Center Refresh
April 29, 2026
By the Civ-Mil Communications Team
More than 40 volunteers from the Edwards AFB Civilian-Military Support Group turned out this spring for our largest base project to date — a full refresh of the on-base family center that serves hundreds of Airmen and their families each month.
Over a single weekend, the team repainted common areas, assembled new furniture, refreshed the children’s corner, and restocked the resource shelves. What started as a simple cleanup grew into a community-wide effort, with local partners donating materials and meals to keep everyone going.
A space that reflects the community it serves
The family center is often the first stop for newly arrived families finding their footing at Edwards. The goal of the refresh was simple: make it feel as welcoming as the people who walk through its doors.

“This is what Civ-Mil is all about — civic leaders and military families rolling up their sleeves side by side for the people of Edwards.”
Projects like this are made possible by members, donors, and partners who believe in supporting the Edwards community year-round. If you’d like to get involved in the next one, we’d love to have you.
